Double Deep Pallet Racking For Houston 3PL

The Project

Fully welded double-deep pallet racking system engineered, delivered, and installed for a 3PL in Channelview, TX, in the Houston port corridor. The system used over 600,000 pounds of steel to create more than 8,000 pallet positions, letting the customer significantly downsize their warehouse footprint through a condensed, high-density layout.

The Challenge

The customer needed to consolidate storage and reduce their leased footprint without giving up pallet capacity. That meant replacing a conventional layout with a high-density design that could nearly double storage in the same aisles while standing up to heavy daily 3PL throughput.

The Outcome

Hammerhead provided design support, engineering, project management, and installation, delivering all 8,014 pallet positions in under two weeks for expedited use of the racks. Heavy-duty positions hold 3,500 pounds per pallet on roll-formed rack, with end guards and column protectors installed for safety and over 8,000 location labels applied to denote every pallet position. The condensed double-deep layout dramatically increased capacity per square foot and allowed the customer to downsize their warehouse footprint.
